We Are RaisingHealth
Founded in 2010, RaisingHealth, formerly known as Academy of Medical & Public Health Services, is a not-for-profit health service organization that supports the sustained well-being and self-advocacy of underserved communities.
Our Mission
Our mission is to support and sustain the well-being of underserved communities through culturally-competent health, education, and community-building programs.
Through a holistic approach, we address longstanding disparities in health and social services, fill gaps in care that underserved communities face, and ensure that our local community gets the support they deserve.
Our Vision
To provide underserved populations with the continued care, support, and community they deserve.
Our Pillars
The work we do ladders up to the following RaisingHealth pillars:
PASSION - Putting love in all that we do
INNOVATION - Building with the future in mind
LEADERSHIP - Having a vision and fostering teamwork
LOYALTY - Putting our community first
ACCOUNTABILITY - Doing what we say we would
RESPECT - Treating others as we want to be treated
SERVICE - Using our skills and experience to help others
Our Impact
Since 2010, we have helped over 150,000+ immigrants—serving as an entry point into their new community.
We understand that healthcare is not exclusive to the clinic or hospital, and that most “real care” happens outside of the medical setting. That’s why we not only strive to address community members’ current health issues, but also promote disease prevention and wellness related to other social determinants of health. Our programs and services offer an integrated, culturally-sensitive, holistic approach for the health and wellness of immigrants. Ultimately, this means we are not just treating the body of a patient, but serving an individual human being.
Our Partners
We strongly believe that to be successful, and make the most impact in our community, we need to leverage the resources of our local partners. We are proud to work closely with 300+ partners, including community-based organizations, hospitals & health systems, corporate sponsors, and government offices to serve our community members.
Our leadership holds academic affiliations as a community practice / training site for SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, NYU College of Dentistry, and Hofstra University School of Law.
A few of our partners include: New York Presbyterian Hospital, NYC Health & Hospitals Corporation, Interfaith Medical Center, Turning Point Brooklyn, Duane Reade, Latino Commission on AIDS, Center for Family Life, Chinese-American Planning Council, World Journal, Catholic Charities, ArchCare, New York Lawyers for the Public Interest, and New York Immigration Coalition
